Survey: Most Americans Back Trump’s Deployment of Natl. Guard In L.A.

Recent polling indicates that a significant majority of U.S. voters endorse President Donald Trump’s decision to send the National Guard to Los Angeles.

A survey carried out on Monday by RMG Research among 1,000 registered voters revealed that 52% either “strongly” or “somewhat” approve of Trump’s action to deploy troops in response to the ongoing street protests.

Conversely, 42% expressed disapproval of the deployment, while 7% remain undecided, as first reported by the Daily Signal.

Riots broke out in Los Angeles on Friday following Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, leading President Trump to initially send 2,000 National Guard troops, with an additional 2,000 dispatched later. The unrest persisted into Monday night, resulting in the arrest of over 100 rioters.

In this deployment, the primary objective of the National Guard is to protect federal property and ensure the safety of federal personnel.

When voters were surveyed regarding their approval or disapproval of immigration officials’ efforts to locate and apprehend illegal immigrants in Los Angeles, 57% of respondents indicated they either strongly approve or somewhat approve, while 35% disapproved, and 9% were uncertain, according to the outlet.

On Tuesday, Trump stated that Los Angeles would be “burning to the ground” had he not ordered National Guard troops to assist during the recent anti-ICE demonstrations. He subsequently criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, both Democrats, for their management of the L.A. wildfires earlier this year.

“If I hadn’t ‘SEND IN THE TROOPS’ to Los Angeles over the past three nights, that once beautiful and great City would be burning to the ground right now, similar to the 25,000 homes that were destroyed in L.A. due to an incompetent Governor and Mayor – Incidentally, the much more challenging, time-consuming, and rigorous FEDERAL PERMITTING PROCESS is nearly complete for these homes, while the straightforward City and State Permits are disastrously delayed and WAY BEHIND SCHEDULE! They are a complete disaster.

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman diverged from the majority of his Democratic colleagues regarding their defense of the Los Angeles riots and their attempts to assign blame to Trump.

On Monday, Fetterman utilized social media to express his discontent with Democrats for placing illegal immigrants above federal immigration officials who uphold the law against individuals residing in the U.S. unlawfully, especially those with serious criminal convictions.

In a post on X that featured images of the violence resulting from the riots that have plagued Los Angeles for several days, the freshman senator from Pennsylvania emphasized his support for peaceful protests, rather than violence against law enforcement and the destruction of property.

“I firmly advocate for free speech, peaceful protests, and immigration—but this is not that,” Fetterman stated. “This is anarchy and utter chaos. My party forfeits the moral high ground when we fail to denounce the burning of cars, the destruction of buildings, and the assault on law enforcement.”

Meanwhile, Attorney General Pam Bondi has conveyed a strong message to those engaging in riots and protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportations in Los Angeles.

In an interview on Fox News with anchor Sean Hannity, Bondi remarked that Los Angeles “resembles a Third World country” amidst the riots and chaos occurring in the city due to President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement.

“Our course of action is to enforce the law, irrespective of their actions. Just observe the situation outside; it appears to be a Third World country, but it is not. This is the United States of America. We will not tolerate it,” Bondi stated.

The attorney general further declared that the Department of Justice would pursue federal charges against individuals who assault state and federal law enforcement officers.
